“No matter how hard you try to fit in, you can’t,” Houston artist KiDD LUCIDD says. “It doesn’t mean anything is wrong with you, it just means your heart is different. So, protect it, stop giving it away.” These are the words of advice KiDD LUCIDD shares with everyone and what she wants listeners to take away from her music. As someone who has had more than her fair share of hardships throughout one life and has found a hard time trying to fit in in this world, KiDD LUCIDD takes everything she has been through and pours it straight into her music.
Born and raised with her family in Houston, KiDD LUCIDD never had a good relationship with those she grew up around. A lack of love from her parents and going to bed with bruises most nights led to depression at an early age. When she became an adult, all KiDD LUCIDD wanted to do was run from her past. This led to her joining the military and shipping off to basic training. It was here that she would rekindle her great love for music.
At an early age, KiDD LUCIDD discovered she had a penchant for music. Playing piano and guitar, while also dabbling in poetry, the young Houston artist knew there was something for her in music. When the music she was writing impressed those she had befriended in the military, she received her first feeling of true gratification from the work she was putting in. Since 2019, KiDD LUCIDD has made music her priority, releasing a couple of singles and plotting out a career path through which she can break into the mainstream.
With momentum and inspiration on her side, KiDD LUCIDD is ready for her big break and has been putting in the work needed to get there. Prepping the release of a few tracks for this coming summer, KiDD LUCIDD hopes to make a change with her music. “I want to welcome those people, the ones who were told they would never amount to anything good. The ones who are still searching because there’s something lost. I want my music to be a beacon.”
