Various teams showed up in their selective cities to put on a show in an attempt to gain an anticipated victory for this year’s Halloween night. Specifically, the Charlotte Hornets stood out with another impressive victory over the Portland Trail Blazers this past Sunday, October 31, 2021, propelling them to now hold a confident 5-2 season record, heading into their next game against the Golden State Warriors. Lamelo Ball has been one of the most noticeable players so far this year as he seems to be slowly bringing his team up to the top of the food chain on the East Coast; the Charlotte Hornets are now the official 5th seed in the Eastern Conference.
As usual, Ball had a stand-out game with a solid 27 points, 7 assists, and 9 rebounds that he contributed to his team’s win. He played a total of 33 minutes on the court while having the much-needed help of Kelly Oubre Jr., who also put on an eye-popping performance. Oubre Jr. managed to successfully help his team to victory by putting up a total of 26 points, 5 assists, and 7 rebounds, over the span of just 32 minutes on the floor. Not only this, but it seems safe to say that without Miles Bridges’ crucial 19 points and 9 assists, the game just might have ended with a different outcome. The Hornets wound up finishing the game in regulation with a 125-113 win over the Trail Blazers.
On the other side of the match, Portland’s individual players did not have a bad game themselves, it just seemed as if they were on the same page this past Sunday. CJ McCollum infiltrated the most on both ends of the floor with his 25 points, 8 assists, and 2 rebounds, over the course of a hard-fought 38 total minutes of action. This, however, is no comparison to Damian Lillard’s disappointing 14 points but did still manage to crucially assist on over 14 plays. The Portland Trail Blazers now hold an uneasy 3-3 record as the unforgiving 2021-2022 NBA season continues its course.
