Coming off a hard-fought war against the Philadelphia 76ers, the Atlanta Hawks look to extend their postseason with a victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals did not disappoint as Trae Young took over the game with an outstanding performance. The two teams battled it out in a neck and neck struggle for victory which would eventually result in a 1-0 series lead, propelling the Hawks closer to their set goal.
Trae Young put up a remarkable 48 points, 11 assists, and 7 rebounds while shooting 17 out of 34 from the field. He also stepped up to put the team on his back and score the last 14 out of 16 points of the match, a career night for the 22-year-old star. Back and forth throughout the entirety of the game, both teams struggled to maintain a firm lead. This only lasted until the Young and the Hawks decided to turn up the heat and refuse to leave losing as an option. Also showing up when heavily needed to help Young in the fourth quarter, John Collins finished the game with an impressive 23 points and 15 rebounds in 37 minutes of playtime. He came in the clutch by cutting the Bucks lead within just two points late in the fourth quarter with his quick thinking as opposing players did not seem ready, making a run to the basket, and scoring at the rim.
Unfortunately being the victim of this upset Giannas was still able to produce 34 points, 9 assists, and 12 rebounds. Always there to lend him a helping hand, Jrue Holiday almost matched his teammate with 33 points and yet still was not enough ammunition to bring down Atlanta. With the final score tallying at 116-113, the Atlanta Hawks look ahead to Game 2 in Milwaukee where they will try and extend their 1-0 lead in this competitive series.
