Everyone has had those moments when you need something from the store but are too exhausted from the day to go out and retrieve it. Well, with Google’s new Wing drone delivery service, you can accomplish just that. All that is required is for the customer to download the app on their phone, pick out the items they desire and watch your order be delivered through the navigation feature within the application. Wing has already been active as a delivery service for almost two years now and is serving happy customers throughout three separate locations around the world.
A representative from the newest high-tech delivery service announced one of the openings by stating, “The news today is the first rooftop delivery service. So we’ve co-located at a shopping mall in Australia – Grand Plaza, it is a Vicinity shopping mall – and we are delivering off the roof. So it’s real estate that is not being used for anything else, and we have used it to stage a delivery service for a number of the merchants in the mall.” It is as simple as placing your preferred order from your desired store, through the handmade application, before waiting for its impending arrival at a speed of approximately 110km/hour; updated notifications will also be sent to your phone as the carrier drone gets closer to its destination.
The average delivery time ranges anywhere between 10-15 minutes depending on the distance between your location and your preferred store. Throughout just August of this year, the division has successfully acquired over 100,000 deliveries, officially propelling them to become the “largest residential drone delivery service in the world.” The drone will deliver any desired item, within the weight restrictions, such as coffee, sushi, ice cream, or any small supplies that one might need. Be sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled for Google’s Wing as they are quickly rising to the top and taking over the delivery business.
