Highly-praised professional boxer Gervonta Davis (28) was just crowned the winner of his most recent fight against his worthy opponent Hector Luis Garcia Mora (31). Recently occurring this past Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the Capital One Arena in the heart of Washington, D.C, Davis was able to successfully walk away with his retained WBA lightweight championship at the conclusion of Showtime’s widely-streamed Pay-Per-View Premier Boxing Champions telecast.
The Baltimore, Maryland-born fighter now holds an updated undefeated boxing record of 28-0, 25 of those victories being knockouts, following his latest win this past Saturday night. “We’re not sleeping on this guy, I know we have two fights lined up, but I’m only focused on this one,” Davis stated during an exclusive interview prior to this specific fight. “I’m ready to go through everybody that’s in my way and just shut everyone up. All the talking that’s going around, I just want to go in the ring and shi them all up.”
With both super athletes initially set to go the full length of a 12-round professional boxing match, Davis patiently waited for the perfect opportunity to change the direction and pace of the fight. Most notably, Garcia suffered a powerful left hook to the jaw during the final moments of the eighth round, seeming to play a major role in his decision to retire from the fight before the commencement of the ninth round.
“I’ve worked extremely hard to make this my year and I’m going to make this a great show for the boxing fans and the Dominican Republic,” Garcia confidentiality spoke to his fans before the commencement of the match. “We’re coming to make this a battle. Whether it’s toe-to-toe or he wants to move and box, me and my trainer are ready.” After this weekend, the young Dominican fighter unwillingly broke his professional undefeated boxing streak by gaining an updated career record of 16-1, with ten of those victories resulting from knockouts.
