Commonly known for his drummer role in the popular American band Foo Fighters, Oliver Taylor Hawkins has passed away at the age of 50 due to unspecified reasons. The band made the public announcement that confirmed the abrupt rumors this past Friday, March 25, 2022, in a post uploaded to their shared social media account that read:
“The Foo Fighter family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever. Our hearts go out to his wife, children, and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.”
As of right now, there has not been an official determination on the exact location or cause of the widely-known musician’s death. However, the attorney general of Colombia reportedly claimed that Hawkins had been staying in a local hotel in the northern Bogota area, where the group was previously scheduled to put on a performance during the night of his passing.
Foo Fighters began their rock journey back in 1994, in which they officially played their first-ever show in Seattle, Washington. Former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl discovered the original ‘solo’ band after the unexpected suicide of Kurt Cobain and the separation of Nirvana. Since then, the multi-talented band has gone on to accomplish various highly sought-after achievements such as being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2021, along with winning a total of 12 Grammy Awards; four of them being for the Best Rock Album Award.
