The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agents (MHRA) recently announced the approval of the first-ever COVID-19 treatment pill. Simply take the pill twice a day by mouth and notice the change as the symptoms of the virus slowly exit your system. The pill is designed specifically for people who have previously been or are currently infected with COVID-19; patients who will be eligible for this form of treatment must be in the “vulnerable and symptomatic” category in order to have enough outlets to completely heal the overpopulated amount of victims.
“It is the world’s first approved antiviral for this disease that can be taken by mouth rather than administered intravenously,” stated MHRA chief executive, June Raine. “This is important because it means it can be administered outside of a hospital setting before COVID-19 has progressed to a severe stage.” The pill reportedly was initially used to treat the flu, but after further examination, studies show that it was more effective towards COVID-19, without having to go through any major modifications. Of the 775 victims that were recently diagnosed with the virus, 7.3% were sent to the hospital in comparison to the 14.1% who were given a placebo. This test transparently shows the exact effects and results of the newly introduced aspect of treatment.
So far, only being approved in the UK, the sovereign state has agreed to unload 480,000 units of the pill into their land to attempt to put a halt to the spreading of this deadly virus. The first shipment of the treatment is reportedly set to arrive sometime this November and will be issued to all patients who successfully meet the criteria. The MHRA has announced that the pill is safe to give to patients, no matter if they have already received the vaccine or not. Hopefully, this new system will actually work so the world can finally move forward and prosper.
