Popular New Jersey rapper Fetty Wap was previously taken away in handcuffs after recently being brought up on federal drug charges. On Thursday night October 28, 2021, the FBI arrested the artist at Citi Field in Queens, New York where the Rolling Loud music festival was being held on ‘conspiracy to sell drugs.’ With his legal government name being Willie Junior Maxwell II, Fetty Wap is now under investigation in a high-profile drug case, amongst a half-dozen other people; he is currently being held without bail.

The artist and the rest of the accused are reported to be allegedly running a “multi-million dollar bicoastal drug distribution organization,” as stated by county District Attorney Timothy Sini. They are basically being accused of being one of the top dogs in the overall illegal drug distribution business. United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Breon Peace, said the following in a statement regarding the details of their operation: “As alleged, the defendants transported, distributed and sold more than 100 kilograms of deadly and addictive drugs, including heroin and fentanyl, on Long Island, deliberately contributing to the opioid epidemic that has devastated our communities and taken too many lives.”

After searching various properties, officials recovered over ‘$1.5 million in cash, two kilograms of heroin, 16 kilograms of cocaine, numerous fentanyl pills, two handguns, a pistol, a rifle, and loads of ammunition,’ according to the official police report. Fetty Wap was last taken into police custody back in 2019 after being arrested for a DUI when he was racing another vehicle; he was also brought up on three separate counts of battery earlier that same year. “We will continue to work nonstop with our law enforcement partners to keep our neighborhoods safe from the scourge of dangerous drugs and gun violence,” said U.S. Attorney Breon Peace, in order to ease the minds of locals. The Paterson artist is still being detained and hopefully will have some sort of explanation whenever he is set to be released.
