50-year-old entrepreneur and businessman Elon Musk has made quite a name for himself as not only a business genius, with his multi-billion dollar vehicle company Tesla, but also with his curiosity and creativity about life outside of this Earth. While half of his valuable time is spent attending to increasing Tesla’s mobility, the other half is prioritized into his other successful corporation, SpaceX. This specific company “designs, manufactures and launches advanced rockets and spacecraft,” according to their official website. His goal for over a decade has ‘simply’ been to successfully move life on Earth to Mars in order for future generations to live a plentiful life.
The businessman has had this clear-sighted vision since before SpaceX was even originally founded back in 2002, but undoubtedly could not have imagined how far he would actually take. Elon recently announced this past week that he is “expected to have a total of 1 million people on Mars by the end of 2050,” according to a previously made statement by Musk himself. Respected SpaceX advisor Scott Hubbard also gave a public statement that said, “This is something I hoped I would see. So that it is clear… that they are keeping their eye on the Mars goal and working toward it in this interim fashion.”
SpaceX reportedly plans to create 1,000 Starships over the span of 10 years, 100 brand new highly-advanced reusable spaceships each year. When asked about the exact mission that Musk plans on putting into action he replied with a simple statement released to his Twitter account that read: “Loading the Mars fleet into Earth orbit, then 1,000 ships depart over 30 days every 26 months. Battlestar Galactica…” If built correctly from the initial design, Starships will be “the most powerful launch system to ever be manufactured,” as claimed by the corporation themselves. The billionaire continues to instill security in his audience that all travel equipment is being tested and will not be released until he and his team believe they are 100% safe.
