As of this past Monday, November 1, 2021, popular entrepreneur and business owner Elon Musk made the announcement that he will be looking to sell approximately $6 billion in Tesla stock in order to help the overpopulated starving community. Over the years, the amount of people who go each day without a meal has been quickly rising due to various natural and man-made aspects of our day-to-day choices. However, specific information was previously brought to light that it would take just about $6 billion to help put a decent dent in the world hunger issue. Being the billionaire as he is, Musk was targeted for this donation, in which he actually claimed to be willing to cough up the money only if the United Nations were public about their exact spending scheme layout.
WFP Director David Beasley previously stated on CNN, “The governments are tapped out. This is why and this is when… the billionaires need to step up now on a one-time basis, $6 billion to help $42 million people that are literally going to die if we don’t reach them.” The CNN representative then went to upload a post onto his Twitter account, in which he elaborated on the situation by stating, “The world needs to wake up. We have got a global humanitarian crisis on our hands that is spiraling out of control. 42 million people in 43 countries face famine NOW. All we need is $6.6 billion- just .36% of the top 400 U.S. billionaires’ net worth increased last year. Is that too much to ask??”
Obviously referring to the likes of Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and Tesla’s Elon Musk, Musk continued to make it clear, even after his statement had been made, that he will follow through with his vow as long as the United Nations comply with his one stipulation. The 50-year-old businessman publicly announced the offer on his Twitter feed that transparently read, “If WFP can describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $6 billion will solve world hunger, I will sell Tesla stock right now and do it.” There has been no direct response to the multi-billionaire as of yet, but with all that is on the line, there is no doubt that they will not leave him waiting for long.
