Worldwide investor and entrepreneur Elon Musk has just added the newest addition to his list of business accomplishments. Occurring this past Monday, April 23, 2022, the 50-year-old businessman officially purchased the widely-used social media giant known as Twitter for a total of $44 billion USD, equalling the equivalent to $52.20 per share. The current ‘richest man in the world’ previously made his final offer to the platform earlier this month through a post that was uploaded to his own Twitter account: “I am offering to buy 100% of Twitter for $54.20 per share in cash, a 54% premium over the day before I began investing in Twitter and a 38% premium over the day before my investment was publicly announced.”

Purchasing 100% of the business from one of its original co-founders, Jack Dorsey, Musk is now planning to transition the corporation back to its initial roots of being a ‘private company,’ according to a previous statement made by both entrepreneurs. Assuming all parties involved follow through with this specific deal, some of the changes that Musk is planning to incorporate include the platform giving more slack on freedom of speech, along with the possibility of reinstating former President Donald Trump’s account; the one-term president was permanently suspended from Twitter back in January 2021 after repeatedly violating their Terms and Agreements clause.
