Popular singer and musician Ed Sheeran recently shared the upsetting news that he has tested positive for COVID-19. The “Shape of You” singer officially announced the news to his audience this past Sunday, October 24, 2021, in a post that was uploaded to his Instagram account. Ed took the time to explain how he has no control over the future steps he has to take in order to recover, while sincerely apologizing for any inconveniences and fan expectations that were let down due to his positive COVID-19 result. The singer/songwriter also explained how he is now forced to ‘put a pause’ on almost all of his upcoming concerts and shows that he had previously committed to.
“Hey guys,” the post read. “Quick note to tell you that I have sadly tested positive for Covid, so I am now self-isolating and following government guidelines. It means that I am now unable to plow ahead with any in-person commitments for now, so I will be doing as many of my planned interviews and performances as I can from my house. Apologies to anyone I have let down. Be safe everyone x,” Sheeran wholeheartedly stated to his fans around the world. The unfortunate information came to light shortly after Ed was officially set for a highly anticipated performance on Saturday Night Live, November 6.
In other aspects, Ed Sheeran is still planning to officially release his fourth studio album this upcoming Friday, October 29. This drop quickly follows the release of his previous tracks, “Shivers” and “Bad Habits,” which unexpectedly debuted at ‘No. 10 and No. 2 on the Billboard Top 100 chart.’ It has now been almost three total years since his preceding project, “No. 6 Collaborations Project,” was made available to the public back in July 2019. The exact name of his upcoming album has yet to be announced, but if the past has taught us anything, it is that Ed Sheeran will not disappoint.
