After the official debut of his first-ever superhero (antihero) role in the new DC Universe (DCU) film Black Adam, Dwayne The Rock Johnson has successfully shot box office sales through the roof. Even with many critics talking down on the 50-year-old actor for this specific acting performance, stating that he “underperformed,” numbers do not lie. Not even two months after its initial release, the Black Adam movie is undeniably proving critics wrong by reeling in an international total of around $220 million, on top of a worldwide total of approximately $388.9 million; an estimated $52 million to $72 million of that total is considered to be 100% profit.
Due to the movie’s major success, Dwyane recently uploaded a post to his verified Instagram account that informed his loyal fans of a “long-awaited Black Adam update regarding the character’s future in the new DC Universe,” according to his opening sentence. “James Gunn (filmmaker) and I connected, and Black Adam will not be in their first chapter of storytelling. However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters.
The Hollywood personality concluded, “These decisions made by James and DC leadership represent their vision of DCU through their creative lens… After 15 years of relentless hard work to finally make Black Adam, I’m very proud of the film we delivered for fans worldwide. I will always look back on the fan reaction to Black Adam with tremendous gratitude, humility, and love – We did great.
