Beginning his professional rap career back in April 2017, with the release of his first full-length project I Am Mr. Moseley, Drakeo The Ruler quickly became a unique force to be reckoned with throughout the music industry. Born and raised on the west coast in the heart of Los Angeles, California, he rapidly became well known for his individual approach to any beat. Unfortunately, the 28-year-old artist was devastatingly stabbed and murdered this past Sunday, December 19, 2021, coincidentally in his hometown of Los Angeles.

Drakeo was initially scheduled to perform at the Once Upon A Time concert, along with 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg, until an unexpected altercation took place in Exposition Park just outside of the Banc of California Stadium. Official reports have not specified the exact parties that were involved during this brutal situation, however representatives of the concert recently made the public announcement that “there was an altercation in the roadway backstage.” They added, “Out of respect for those involved and in coordination with local authorities, artists and organizers decided not to move forward with remaining sets so the festival ended an hour early.” Officials also stated that they do not even have the knowledge if Drakeo was even heavily involved during the escalating argument.

Respected rappers around the world have been sharing their condolences to those involved such as Snoop Dogg who is in attendance during this tragic occurrence. “I’m saddened by the events that took place last night at the Once Upon A Time in LA festival,” he wrote to his Instagram account. “I’m not with anything negative and as one of the many performers, I was there to spread positive vibes only to my city of LA. Last night I was in my dressing room when I was informed about the incident and chose to immediately leave the festival grounds. My prayers go out to everyone affected by the tragedy… I’m praying for peace in hip-hop,” the 50-year-old rap pillar stated. As the west coast continues to grieve the loss of their popular Talk To Me (feat. Drake) artist, all fans can do at this point is pray for his family and, as Snoop Dogg said, peace throughout the rap community.
