The last album release we’ve seen from Canada’s own, Drake, was “Scorpion” back in 2018 which was eventually recognized by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and certified platinum. Since then, Drake has dropped multiple singles with featured verses in order to build up for the release of his highly anticipated project “Certified Lover Boy.” On September 3, 2021, the 34-year-old artist officially released “Certified Lover Boy” onto all streaming platforms after over a year of teasing his audience.
The project includes various features from multiple platinum-selling artists such as Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Giveon, Jay-Z, Young Thug, Travis Scott, Future, 21 Savage, Kid Cudi, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Wayne, and Rick Ross. Each individual track had the help of different popular beat producers like AP, TM88, Leon Thomas III, Dez Wright, 40, Monsune, Nineteen85, Bink!, Noel, OG Ron C, and even Travis Scott helped structure the beat to his featured song. “Girls Want Girls” (feat. Lil Baby) has already propelled itself to the top of RapCaviar on Spotify, along with other fan favorites of the project being “Way 2 Sexy” (feat. Future & Young Thug), “TSU” and “Fair Trade” (feat. Travis Scott).
Just the morning after the official drop of his album, Drake has already managed to eliminate every single that took up the top 21 spots on Apple Music’s charts. Just the night before his release almost all of the top places that are now occupied by “Certified Lover Boy” were originally taken up by tracks from Kanye West’s newest album “DONDA.” As many fans are seeming to compare the two albums, due to the two artist’s previous beef through social media, it is currently looking as if Drake is ahead of the race after having his project public for less than 24 hours. Yeezy’s “DONDA” has officially acquired 327k sales at the end of its first week as we patiently wait for Drake numbers to begin rolling in.
