There is no debating that J.Cole is currently one of the best lyricist rappers to still be taking part in the music industry. The recent topic of discussion has been who sits at the top when comparing J.Cole, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar together; brought up by the German rapper himself when he gave his own opinion that he was the “bronze trophy” behind Drake and Kendrick. As humble as he is, there will never be a direct determination on who sits where in the rap game, but after that statement, a certain Toronto artist would be forced to give his thoughts on the matter.
J.Cole previously ventured off to Miami, Florida to officially begin his album tour and invited Drake and Future along to perform their top-charting hit single “Way 2 Sexy.” After a beautiful concert was put on by the three artists, Drake stayed on the stage to give a public appreciation statement towards the “The Off-Season” musician. “I gotta say this because I don’t always wanna have a heartfelt moment when we’re on stage together,” Drake expressed. “You know, you did that ‘Pipe Down’ freestyle the other day. You were saying in the freestyle that they gave you the bronze or whatever, me and Kendrick… I just want you to understand something. You are genuine, without a doubt, one of the greatest rappers to ever touch a mic.”
Cole took his words to heart and seemed to cherish every second of the appreciation he was receiving by shaking Drizzy’s hand and embracing him at the conclusion of his discourse. Drake also added, “I just want to let you know, there are way too many people in the world that think and know that Cole is in the top position… I love you with all my heart, you’re my brother, one of my favorite artists. Always appreciate you having me out here.”
