Cleveland Browns quarterback DeShaun Watson has been suspended from the NFL for the first eleven games, fined $5 million, and required to seek professional treatment and evaluation. Official reports claim that these punishments are linked to the league’s settlement with the star quarterback in regards to accusations from over a dozen women of sexual misconduct.
“I have always stood on my innocence and always said that I have never assaulted anyone or disrespected anyone and I am continuing to stand on that,” the 26-year-old stated. “But at the same tie, I have to continue to push forward with my life and my career — I am going to continue to stand on my innocence and keep pushing forward, and I have always stood on not disrespecting or sexually assaulting anyone.” With Watson clearly expressing how he is not guilty of any recent accusations that women have placed against him, it seems that only those involved will know the truth on this matter if specific evidence does not come to light.
The Cleveland star previously signed a whopping $230 million full-guaranteed contract after being traded to the Browns in March of this year. Due to the recent rumors, Watson’s franchise agreement was forced to be altered only allowing the athlete to receive $1.035 million within his first season and lose a $632,500 salary throughout his upcoming suspension.
