The widely frowned upon death penalty has reportedly been removed from Gifford, Florida rapper YNW Melly’s case. The 23-year-old artist was previously arrested back in 2019 and is currently facing life in prison on account of receiving two counts of premeditated first-degree murder. The Florida man is also still being investigated for a separate case that involves the innocent murder of a local Gifford sheriff’s deputy back in 2017, but nothing has been proven for that individual case.
Melly wrote a heartfelt statement to all of his friends and family members on the day he turned himself in to the police, over two years ago: “To all my fans and supporters, no I did not get locked up in Washington, but I am turning myself in today. I want you guys to know I love you and appreciate every single one of y’all, a couple of months ago I lost my two brothers to violence and now the system wants to find justice. Unfortunately, a lot of rumors and lies are being said, but no worries. God is with me and my brother @ynw.bortlen and we want y’all to remember it is a YNW Family. I love you @ynwsakchaser1 and @ynwjuvy #freeus.”
