Popular Youtube star David Dobrik is known for his outgoing personality and comedic viral social media antics. The California-based celebrity has been stepping up his game as of late by officially signing a deal with Discovery+ to film and launch his own personal travel series set to be called Discovering David Dobrik. The program will include several features from known stars previously seen on his Youtube channel as they venture off to different places around the world. “It is everyone’s dream to be able to travel the world with friends and now I get to do that. I cannot wait,” David stated when commenting on his thoughts towards his upcoming show.

The series is intended to attract a younger fanbase who are used to shortened videos rather than your average length program; similar to Instagram clips and TikToks. Discovery+ is a streaming service that sits under the belt of the multi-million dollar corporation that is the Discovery Channel. The extended platform was officially released this past January and “had gathered 18 million subscribers through August.” All of the financial details of their agreement are still unknown, but judging from Dobrik’s most recent status of bringing in a $15.5 million income, it can be assumed that it was not a small chunk of money.

This move is a big step in the right direction and a huge comeback play for the 25-year-old content creator. The last march, Dobrik stepped away from his routine appearances on TikTok and Youtube as he has been steadily stepping back into the limelight after the surprising news came to light that his former Youtube partner, Dom Zeglaitis, had been accused of sexual assault. After being made public this situation made people look at Dobrik differently as well, spreading paranoia throughout different sponsors who have invested their time and money into the young entertainer. Companies such as EA, Hello Fresh, and SeatGeek started to slowly detach themselves from all things Dobrik related until this past June when he made his initial return to social media after about four months. If this series goes smoothly and is successful enough, it might just be a gateway for bigger opportunities for the young entrepreneur.
