This past Monday, September 27, 2021, Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys faced off in a brutal one-sided battle against the Philadelphia Eagles. This was Prescott’s first official home game back at the AT&T Stadium since fracturing his ankle at the beginning of last season; the popular quarterback could not help shed a few tears. Both teams came into this match-up with the same seasonal record (1-1) before Dallas blew Philadelphia out of the water with a strong 20-point lead to conclude the game. The final score was tallied at 41-21.
Dak Prescott put on one of the most impressive performances we have seen so far this season by completing a total of 21 out of his 26 pass attempts. The Cowboys dominated throughout the entirety of the game holding their comfortable 20-point lead at the end of the first half before continuing to apply even more pressure. The offensive line for the Eagles seemed to have given up heading into the second half of regulation as their quarterback, Jalen Hurts, immediately threw an interception to start the third quarter. The pass was caught by cornerback Trevon Diggs who returned the interception for yet another Cowboys touchdown, extending his team’s lead to 26-7.
Hurts and his teammates finally started to show small signs of life late in the third quarter as they pushed their way down the field to eventually score a clean touchdown pass. The throw was caught by the Eagles’ tight end Zach Ertz who was wide open in the corner of the end zone. However, this was not enough to stop the drive behind the Cowboys’ clear mission this season. They hold a solid 2-1 lead with their only loss coming from the Buccaneers in their first game of the 2021 season. Dallas now prepares to take on the Carolina Panthers next Sunday, October 3, in hopes of continuing their 2-game hot streak.
