Chipotle’s introduction of the Autocado, a robot designed to process avocados, aims to streamline the preparation of avocados for guacamole production. The machine, developed in collaboration with Vebu, automates the cutting, coring, and peeling of avocados, making it more convenient for Chipotle employees to create their guacamole by hand. This innovation is part of Chipotle’s efforts to incorporate technology into its operations and improve efficiency in its food preparation processes.

We are committed to exploring collaborative robotics to drive efficiencies and ease pain points for our employees,” Curt Garner, Chief Customer and Technology Officer at Chipotle said in a statement. “The intensive labor of cutting, coring, and scooping avocados could be relieved with Autocado, but we still maintain the essential culinary experience of hand mashing and hand preparing the guacamole to our exacting standards.”
