As a rising voice and independent figure, she brings more than just rhyme schemes and hooks, she brings perspective.

Kayla AK’s entry into music was not one of seeking to be heard, but of creation. She’s searching for an identity and using music as a means of sorting through experiences, dealing with issues, and creating something that can be left behind to mean something for others. That method has allowed her to develop some distinction in an overcrowded market.

“I don’t want to sound like everyone else, nor do I want to write somebody else’s story,” Kayla mentions. “Whatever I write, it has to be something that means something to me.” Kayla AK’s path is not that of shortcuts. Without the machinery of an industry tag or going-viral status to propel her, she’s depended on discipline and persistence instead. From working on her visuals to leading rollouts, her proven career to this point shows keen insight into the music industry.

Rather than being under pressure to churn out constant content, like most other artists, Kayla has been thoughtful and deliberate about every release. Her songs frequently combine storytelling about her life with observations about life in general. That kind of thinking is starting to speak to increasing numbers of listeners, especially listeners who want to hear realness in an algorithmic marketplace.

Lyrically, Kayla’s work carries a tone of reflection. She raps of tenacity but avoids cliches and discusses hardship without glamorizing it. The equilibrium that is attained is not very commonly seen. Kayla AK is part of one of the newer initiatives of an era of hip-hop where power is in simplicity, and success is measured by ownership, not figures. “My number one is still being in charge of what I’m doing,” she says. “That means saying no to ideas that don’t work in what I’m envisioning, even when it’s tempting.”
On the horizon, Kayla AK is determined to expand her audience, not just online, but in live shows and in collaborative efforts as well. In an industry where artists burn out chasing trends, Kayla AK is taking a different route. One based on purpose, patience, and the kind of empowerment that extends well beyond the lyrics themselves.

Karrahbooo Reacts To Simple Battery Arrest: ‘I’m Innocent’ https://brevmag.com/karrahbooo-reacts-to-simple-battery-arrest-im-innocent/ https://brevmag.com/karrahbooo-reacts-to-simple-battery-arrest-im-innocent/#respond Thu, 05 Jun 2025 15:24:00 +0000 https://brevmag.com/?p=80358 Former Concrete Boys signee, Karrahbooo was arrested in Georgia this past weekend on a simple battery charge.

The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office reported that the rapper, whose real name is Karrah Schuster, was taken into custody on Saturday and later released after posting a $1,000 bond. Her mugshot has now been made public. The Atlanta-raised female vocalist took to social media to claim her innocence.

In early 2025, Karrahbooo responded to speculation about her status with Lil Yachty’s Concrete Boys, explaining that she hadn’t been dropped but was restricted from releasing music on her own. She also expressed her discontent with the music industry, describing it as “weird and confusing.” More recently, Yachty refuted claims that he was preventing her from releasing music, stating he held no grudge or ill will toward her.

From Silence To “Homicide Freestyle”: The New Evolution Of Moka Blast AKA Ladies Love Moka https://brevmag.com/from-silence-to-homicide-freestyle-the-new-evolution-of-moka-blast-aka-ladies-love-moka/ https://brevmag.com/from-silence-to-homicide-freestyle-the-new-evolution-of-moka-blast-aka-ladies-love-moka/#respond Tue, 07 Jan 2025 23:00:45 +0000 https://brevmag.com/?p=66400 When Moka Blast, aka Ladies Love Moka, stepped back into the studio to record “Homicide Freestyle,” he carried with him two years of unspoken words and untold stories. The song, a declaration of his return to music, shows not just a comeback but a deep evolution in his artistry, hewn from life-altering experiences and forced silences. The making of “Homicide Freestyle” is a little different from Moka’s earlier releases. This new single is knee-deep in real life and personal change. It came during some heavy reflection time when, for a period, he was forbidden by law even to share his side of the story or defend himself against the public’s judgment. The involuntary silence he experienced changed him and forged a whole new sound.

What sets “Homicide Freestyle” apart is how it tells its story in such a raw, unfiltered manner. The song is not a narrative of events but rather an emotional arc of a man who came out stronger after a life-threatening situation. Moka Blast brings authenticity to his delivery, one that cuts right through to listeners who want true representations of the streets in their hip-hop. The production value complements this in great ways, giving a modern, yet simultaneously very true hip-hop, narrative. The hiatus, though unwanted, granted Moka Blast a very rare opportunity to actually hone and work out his artistic vision. Without any release schedules or expectations on the part of the general public, he had time to think through all his experiences and precisely how those best translated into music. The result is a track that feels both meticulously thought out and emotionally spontaneous, a balance that is reached very rarely in hip-hop.

“Homicide Freestyle” is a vision for Moka Blast’s future. It shows a deeper, more narrative approach to his music, one that takes all his past work and imbues it with the hard-won wisdom of the last few years. Through his new recording home at FGC Recording Studios in Las Vegas, Moka is positioned to continue this evolution, including collaborations that will further expand his artistic horizons. As Moka Blast returns to active recording and performance, “Homicide Freestyle” is at once both a milestone and a first step. It testifies to how adversity can shape an artist’s sound and perspective, building music that resonates on a deeper level with listeners. For Moka, this isn’t just a comeback single; it’s the first page of a new chapter in his artistic journey, promising to combine personal truth with musical innovation.

Kanye West Reportedly Did Not Clear Backstreet Boys’ “Everybody” Sample For New Album https://brevmag.com/kanye-west-reportedly-did-not-clear-backstreet-boys-everybody-sample-for-new-album/ https://brevmag.com/kanye-west-reportedly-did-not-clear-backstreet-boys-everybody-sample-for-new-album/#respond Tue, 12 Dec 2023 13:27:43 +0000 https://brevmag.com/?p=60374 Kanye West faced a potential setback with his upcoming joint project with Ty Dolla Sign, “Vultures.” A snippet of a song from the album, featuring a sample of the Backstreet Boys’ “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back),” was previewed by Ye. However, the use of the sample may currently pose legal challenges, as copyright issues can arise when artists use samples without proper clearance or licensing. It remains to be seen how this potential hurdle will impact the album’s release. Sources linked to the Backstreet Boys told TMZ that Ye never reached out to the members of the band nor their management for permission to interpolate the song.

The song was also previewed live on Monday night in Miami, which brought out special guests including Offset, Freddie Gibbs, Lil Durk, Kodak Black, Chris Brown, and even Kanye’s daughter North West.

André 3000 Returns With New Album ‘New Blue Sun’ https://brevmag.com/andre-3000-returns-with-new-album-new-blue-sun/ https://brevmag.com/andre-3000-returns-with-new-album-new-blue-sun/#respond Fri, 17 Nov 2023 15:20:44 +0000 https://brevmag.com/?p=60099 André 3000 has released an instrumental album titled “New Blue Sun,” co-produced by Carlos Niño. This eight-track project marks André’s return to music, and it comes 17 years after OutKast’s album “Idlewild,” which was long considered their final project as a duo. The instrumental album features contributions from various talented musicians, and the track titles add a creative touch to the overall experience. André 3000 explained in a recent interview that the album’s title and one of the tracks, “Dreams Once Buried Beneath The Dungeon Floor Slowly Sprout Into Undying Gardens,” intentionally reference the Dungeon Family collective, an essential part of the OutKast story.

“I wouldn’t be able to play flute or any of this stuff. I wouldn’t have produced any of this if it wasn’t for the Dungeon,” 3 Stacks said of the sustaining importance of his earlier Dungeon Family period. “So the Dungeon was the dirt.”
