Mexican boxing star Canelo Alvarez has just publicly threatened one of the best soccer players on the planet, Lionel Messi. The Guadalajara-born athlete posted the threat to his verified Twitter account this Monday, November 28, 2022, after a World Cup video was leaked of Messi allegedly kicking Mexico’s jersey and stepping on it as he celebrated. The clip seemed to have taken place last Saturday, November 26, after Mexico took a brutal 2-0 loss against Messi and Argentina in their Group C match during the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament.

“Vieron a Messi limpiando el piso con nuestra playera y bandera? Que la pida a Dios que no me lo encuentre,” Canelo’s original tweet stated — simply translating in English, “Saw Messi cleaning the floor with our jersey and flag? He should ask God that I do not find him,” followed by multiple fists and fire emoticons. The former middleweight, super middleweight, super welterweight, and light heavyweight champion has yet to say anything else on the situation, much like the Argentinian star who has still not publicly responded to his fellow athlete.
