On Saturday, November 6, 2021, the highly anticipated four-fight boxing PPV took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in the heart of Las Vegas, Nevada. However, one fight, in particular, stood out to easily become one of the most historic moments in boxing history. Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez pulled off an incredible knockout victory against the highly respected, previously undefeated, Caleb Plant. Canelo managed to knock Plant off his feet for the first time in his entire career. With this win, not only did Canelo hand his opponent his first professional loss, but he also proudly crowned himself as the first-ever undisputed super middleweight champion.

“Caleb is a good fighter,” he stated in a public post-game interview. “I have a lot of respect for Caleb Plant. He was a difficult opponent with a lot of ability and I respect him. We are both men at the end of the day. He wanted to fight me and still continue. I told him there is no shame. We had a great fight tonight.” With Canelo being the humble and down-to-earth person that he is, it is clear that there is no contentment towards his peer. He went on to add, “He was making the fight pretty difficult, but Eddy told me to just stick to the game plan in the last two rounds. In the end, I got him. That is the way it had to finish. He was already hurt and I went for the kill.” Alvarez stunned Plant to a point of no return in the final 3 minutes of the 11th round.

Alvarez first caught Plant with a strong left hook that seemed to only have scraped the side of his head, until Canelo quickly followed up with an even stronger right uppercut that sent his 29-year-old adversary straight to the ground. Plant was able to continue the fight after a long eight-count by the referee, which seemingly meant nothing as Canelo was already firing shots from left and right, eventually ending the match via knockout. This win propelled Canelo to finally achieve his dream while simultaneously boosting his career record of 56 wins, two draws, and just one loss.
