Deforestation has been a highly increasing problem throughout the world ever since the commencement of the concrete jungles. For the past 55 million years, the notorious Amazon Rainforest has seemingly been on the receiving end of most of the damage caused to the world’s natural sources. Located mostly in Brazil, the rainforest travels throughout many other respected countries such as Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, and Guyana. However, reports have it that the most amount of destruction has been beginning to take place in the heart of Brazil, ever since President Jair Bolsonaro claimed his place in office back in 2019.

A political scientist at the University of Brasilia, Ana Karine Pereira, recently made a public statement on what she believes needs to occur in order to further the restoration of the Amazon. “Changing the political profile of the president and federal government leadership is crucial at this moment to see a break in this trend of high levels of deforestation,” Pereira announced. With this statement, the political representative is transparently expressing how her country is in desperate need of new representation, as well as a new government overall.

Back in January of this year, the amount of deforestation taking place at the Amazon reached the highest it has ever seen in the past 15 years. Most people believed that as time moved forward the amount of damage done to our natural and historical bases would decrease, however, the situation only seems to be getting worse. Citizens who are contributing to this disgraceful activity are moving with the intention of building ranches and other types of manmade material, as they continue to believe that there will be no consequences to their actions.
