2021 has taken one of their last souls of the year. Widely popular American actress and comedian Betty Marion White Ludden was upsettingly reported dead this morning, Friday, December 31, 2021. Officials claim that the 99-year-old icon passed away after having an unexpected stroke in the middle of the night. The beloved actress had an outstanding 80-year career in the entertainment industry which she first entered back in 1940, immediately after she graduated from high school. Shortly after in 1949, White then quickly became a regular face on television when she officially became the co-host of Hollywood on Television with Al Jarvis in Los Angeles, California.
“Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever,” her close friend and agent Jeff Witjas stated briefly after the announcement of her death. He went on to add, “I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much. I don’t think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden. She believed she would be with him again.” Betty’s husband passed away approximately 30 years ago in 1981 from a hard-fought battle against stomach cancer.
The influential pillar in most female actresses across the globe today starred in various television shows and movies over the course of her career including Life With Elizabeth, Advice & Consent, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Mama’s Family, Chance of a Lifetime, That ‘70’s Show, Ugly Betty, Hot in Cleveland, Saturday Night Live, and her most popular role (Rose Nylund) in The Golden Girls/The Golden Palace. There is no doubt that the Illinois-born personality will be dearly missed, but as she always said, the best thing we can do is “always find the positive.”
