Launched back in 2007, Amazon Prime has quickly risen to the top of the online delivery industry above all its competitors. Since their initial introduction into the business world, Jeff Bezos’ company has accumulated a total revenue of approximately $1.7 trillion at the end of 2021 and seems to only be increasing as the years’ pass. Most recently, the online retail giant announced that they will be raising their monthly and annual fees for all of their current and future subscription holders.
Being brought to light this past Tuesday, February 8, 2022, a monthly subscription to the widely used service is currently in the process of being raised from $12.99 to $14.99, along with an annual subscription increasing from $119.00 to $139.00. When asked if she will be continuing to use this specific aspect of the corporation, shopping expert Kristin McGarth gave her honest opinion on the matter at hand: “It is hard to put a price tag on convenience… At the end of the day, it is two dollars more a month, or $20 a year, but I think it is always worth looking at your subscriptions and seeing if you are getting the full benefit of them.”
According to Bezos himself, these specific financial changes will be officially implemented to all of his qualifying customers on Friday, February 18. The majority of former Prime users who made the decision to remove themselves after the recent price raise have mostly turned to Walmart Plus, which is basically just a cheaper alternative. However, at the end of 2021 officials from Amazon counted over 146.8 million users who are subscribed and continuously use their Amazon Prime accounts on a weekly basis; even with the monthly and annual increase in fees, it is safe to say that the popular delivery service has almost nothing to be concerned about.
