In light of the previous public comments made by rapper and fashion designer, Kanye West, Adidas has officially decided to join neighboring businesses such as Vogue Magazine and Balenciaga in terminating their partnership with the popular entrepreneur. Publicized this past Tuesday, October 25, 2022, the athletic design company released an official statement that professionally separates itself from the 45-year-old musical icon.
“Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech,” representatives of the business stated. “Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful, and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.” This specific detachment will result in the conclusion of distributing all Yeezy-branded products, along with disconnecting any future payments towards West.
The Grammy Award-winning artist has now been segregated out of multiple high-end business deals with a handful of corporations, totaling an estimated loss of over $246 million in 2022 alone. Seeming to remove himself from most of his current joint professional relationships, Ye has also recently broken out of his agreement with television company MRC – “We cannot support any content that amplifies his platform,” CEO Modi Wiczyk wrote in a public letter: this move puts the debut of West’s documentary “Ye” on pause for the time being.
