OnlyFans officially launched its platform back in 2016 and since then has been a significant side hustle for people’s everyday lives around the world. There are over 130 million content creators on the website in which the majority are mostly known for selling their own personalized adult videos. As this type of content has seemed to consume the platform into one of its basic purposes, OnlyFans recently made announced this past week that they are currently developing a plan to put an end to all pornography content from being sold or displayed on their website. The company looks to finalize this intense business move as soon as October of this year.
On August 19, 2021, a respected representative for OnlyFans stated, “Effective 1 October 2021, OnlyFans will prohibit the posting of any content containing sexually explicit conduct. In order to ensure the long-term stability of the platform, and to continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines.” However, OnlyFans has reportedly announced how they will still allow creators to post ‘some’ nude content as long as it stays within their new and upcoming policy. The company also mentioned that these specific changes are being made “to comply with the requests of certain banking patterns and payout providers.”
Initially created to help your average person create more noise with their passions, OnlyFans has been on the fast track to getting that image back by previously announcing the release of OFTV; a free public streaming service that includes absolutely no direct sexual content. OFTV has been up and running for almost a full year and has already acquired over 800 videos from approximately 100 professional OnlyFans creators. Some of the most popular celebrities who will no longer have the ability to sell sexually explicit content include Tana Mongeau, Blac Chyna, Rubi Rose, Jordyn Woods, Bhad Bhabie, and Bella Thorne, Trey Songz, Amber Rose, Tyga, and Cardi B.
