Michael Williams, known by his stage name Sheff G, has been accused of incentivizing violence against rival gang members by offering money and jewelry. He, along with Sleepy Hallow and 30 other individuals, faced charges in a 140-count indictment announced recently. In November 2021, Sheff G pleaded guilty and received a two-year prison sentence related to an arrest during a traffic stop earlier that same year.

According to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, Michael Williams, also known as Sheff G, is accused of using the money earned from his music career to promote gun violence in Brooklyn. The allegations state that he offered money and expensive jewelry to individuals who carried out acts of violence. During a press conference, District Attorney Eric Gonzalez stated that instead of using his fame and fortune for positive purposes, Sheff G allegedly used them to encourage gang violence in Brooklyn.

Shortly after the indictment was announced, Sleepy Hallow took to his Instagram Stories to proclaim his and Sheff G’s innocence, urging people not to believe what they see on the internet.

The 32 gang-affiliated men indicted today include multiple members of the 8 Trey Crips and affiliate gang the 9 Ways. Prosecutors have charged the various gang members with second-degree murder, second-degree attempted murder, second-degree conspiracy, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, first-degree assault, first-degree attempted assault, second-degree kidnapping, first-degree gang assault, first-degree attempted gang assault, second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment among others.

Announcing the indictment on Tuesday, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez stated that he hopes the arrests “will have a positive impact on public safety across several Brooklyn communities as we enter the summer months.”
