Looking to start the new year off with a bang and pick up right where they left off in 2022, a handful of widely-streamed artists took it upon themselves to get a jump start on their first releases of 2023. Some rappers have already gone on to publicize full-length projects – I Rest My Case (NBA YoungBoy) and Coke Boys 6 (French Montana) – while many others delivered well-put-together singles: Popcaan, Babytron, Russ, Dusty Locane, Stunna 4 Vegas, JackBoy, and plenty other released a track throughout the first week of the new year.

Most people can agree that last year was quite a year for the music industry. 2022 was undoubtedly filled with various releases of highly-anticipated projects from a plethora of multi-platinum-selling artists including Drake & 21 Savage: Her Loss, Kendrick Lamar: Mr. Moral & The Big Steppers, Future: I Never Liked You, Denzel Curry: Melt My Eyez See Your Future, Quavo & Takeoff: Only Built for Infinity Links, Cordae: From A Birds Eye View, SZA: SOS, YoungBoy Never Broke Again: Colors, Gunna: DS4EVER, and so many more. However, some negatives did triumph throughout the music community in reference to the passing of rappers, PnB Rock, Coolio, Lil Keed, JayDaYoungan, Big Scarr, and most recently, one-third of the Migos group Takeoff.
