Highly popular photo and video-sharing social networking platform Instagram recently announced the commencement of various impending changes towards their widely-used application. American businessman and the current head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, revealed the new information to consumers on Monday, January 9, 2023, stating that the service will begin to “simplify” and “refocus its priorities to bring people together over what they love,” according to a post uploaded to the multi-millionaires verified Instagram account.
With the intent to completely remove the Shopping tab from one of the five navigation options at the bottom of the application, the networking service presently plans to rearrange the selection which would result in the Reels tab landing in the center. Both the Reels and Shopping tabs debuted on the page in early 2020 and, according to Mosseri himself, “you’ll still be able to shop on Feed, in Stories, in Reels, and in ads” — Instagram will “continue to invest in shopping experiences that provide that most value for people and businesses across Feed, Stories, Reels, ads, and more.”
