New information has just been brought to light that well-known British actor Henry Cavill has been surprisingly removed from his upcoming role as Superman in DC Studios’ latest upcoming film. After new executive hires within the DC community, the shocking details were recently made public this past Wednesday, December 14, 2022, through a post uploaded to James Gunn’s – popular American film-maker – verified Twitter account:

“In the initial stage [of Superman], our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman’s life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill… We had a great meeting with Henry and we’re big fans and we talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future.”

Shortly after the announcement, Cavill went on to release a short statement confirming the opening for this specific Clark Kent role. “It’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman,” he wrote in an Instagram caption. “After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October [2022], prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life… It’s been a fun ride with you all, onwards and upwards.”

Other than not returning as his highly-praised Superman role, Cavill also recently confirmed that he will no longer act as the main character, Geralt, in Netflix’s favored The Witcher series. The 39-year-old actor has played the part of Geralt since the debut of the series (2019), gaining a total of three successful seasons to add to his catalog. Young Australian actor Liam Hemsworth is now officially set to continue the development of the character throughout the upcoming fourth season, releasing exclusively to Netflix in 2023.
