New Orleans Pelicans Gain Upper Hand In Season Debut Against Brooklyn Nets

Being both teams’ debut for the 2022-’23 NBA season, the New Orleans Pelicans and Brooklyn Nets undoubtedly left it all on the court. Taking place this past Wednesday, October 29, at the Barclays Center located in the center of Brooklyn, New York, New Orleans managed to successfully take home an impressive 130-108 victory over their all-star opponents. 

Entering his 3rd NBA season, high school prodigy Zion Williamson played a major role in his squad’s victory by putting up a well-earned 25 points, 3 assists, and 9 rebounds. Also aiding in his team’s win last night was star forward Brandon Ingram who scored the most points for the Pelicans (28), along with a much-needed 5 assists and 7 rebounds over the course of a hard-fought 31 minutes on the floor. With this victory, New Orleans now withholds a confident 1-0 undefeated record heading into the new season, giving them plenty of momentum heading into their next match.

Aside from their blowout defeat, Brooklyn’s individual athletes still played a decent basketball game for themselves. Kevin Durant went on to earn himself a 32-point game for the night, along with 2 assists and 3 rebounds, on top of Kyrie Irving facilitating the floor and putting up a necessary 15 points, 5 assists, and 2 rebounds. Nets center Nic Claxton also made himself known throughout the night with his unexpected double-double that consisted of 13 points and 10 rebounds. The Brooklyn Nets now trudge into their next game against the Toronto Raptors this upcoming Friday, October 21.
