A local Papa John‘s location located in the suburb of west Powder Springs, Atlanta, Georgia is currently testing a rarely used, unique form of delivery service. Made public on Monday, June 20, 2022, the popular pizza corporation collaborated with well-known drone delivery outlet Drone Express, currently based out of Dayton, Ohio, in order to successfully complete its delivery mission.
While still working on the exact amount of distance a single drone can fly, Papa John’s is beginning their drone service by strictly delivering to customers already in its parking space. As of right now, it takes two trained individuals to operate one drone at a time, coincidentally contradicting the business’s initial statement of making changes in order to reduce the number of workers and time spent on delivery orders. However, the vice president of digital engineering services, Yasaswi Pulavarti, made a public announcement that states this specific drone testing will “ help to learn and build the future,” along with “enabling the company to get pizzas to tables in between increasing traffic and suburban sprawl.”
Vice president of digital for Papa John’s, Kevin Carta, also released a statement of his own that read, “There are labor shortages, there are higher gas prices – This is a solution that hits on some of these problems.” The testing at 4400 Brownsville Rd, Powder Springs will continue throughout the following months as the widely-known pizza business perfects its newest system. With this service, Papa John’s has officially become the latest corporation to add a drone delivery service to their way of operating, much like other companies such as UPS, Walmart, Amazon, and plenty of others.
