Israel ‘The Last Stylebender’ Adesanya initially won his UFC Middleweight Championship back in 2019 at UFC 243. Coming a long way since then, Adesanya managed to successfully retain his hard-earned championship against Jared Cannonier at UFC 273 last night. Throughout an intense five-round match both athletes displayed their skills at the highest level possible while simultaneously putting on a great show for the audience in the stands: Adesanya took the victory at the conclusion of the fifth round by the judge’s decision.
Making his professional fighting debut back in 2012, Adesanya has managed to create an incredible career for himself, while continuing to improve every one of his skills as the days pass. Including his most recent against Cannonier, the style bender currently holds a professional career fighting record of 21 wins, one loss, and zero draws — Adesanya’s only recorded career loss is last year against Jan Blachowicz on December 6, 2021, at UFC 263.
“I knew he was going to try and copy Jan [Blachowicz’s] homework,” the champ stated in relation to his opponent’s failed takedown attempts. “But I am the big dog in this yard so could not take me down at all.” Adesanya went on to vocalize his thoughts on this specific matchup during his post-fight interview: “I knew he was going to bring everything… He has nothing to lose. As I said, I am the champ, you want it, come get it.” Israel Adesanya is now celebrating his most recent victory within the comforts of himself and his loved ones as he continues to show the world why he is the UFC Middleweight Champion.
