Earlier this week, United States President Joe Biden made the public declaration that he has commenced the banning of specific Russian imports. Making the announcement this past Friday, March 11, 2022, the ban will include various imports such as vodka, diamonds, seafood, and other high-end substances to, and from Russia. “This motion will block more than $1 billion in Russian revenues and help ensure that American citizens are not underwriting President Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine,” according to a public statement made by representatives of the White House.
Biden recently gave a statement of his own to anonymous reporters that claimed the following: “As [Russian President Vladimir] Putin continues his merciless assault, the United States and our allies and partners continue to work in lockstep to ramp up the economic pressures on Putin and to further isolate Russia in the global stage… Revoking PNTR for Russia is going to make it harder for Russia to do business with the United States, and doing it in unison with other nations to make up half of the global economy will be another crushing blow to the Russian economy that’s already suffering very badly from our sanctions.”
He also went on to continue his statement with, “These are not the last steps we are taking,” transparently foreshadowing a future action towards the transcontinental country. However, the specific actions that are currently taking place have reportedly been valued at $550 million per year, making it more difficult to understand how exactly the United States is managing to fund all of its movements. “Putin is the aggressor and Putin must pay the price,” Biden said as he concluded his recent statement at the White House.
