Star quarterback, Tom Brady, recently cleared the rumors and revealed the official declaration of his retirement from the NFL. Brady was initially drafted by the New England Patriots as the 199th overall selection in round six of the 2000 NFL Draft, before going on to play a total of 20 seasons throughout his historic 22-year long professional career. The 44-year-old future Hall of Famer took his respected franchise to 7 playoff appearances while bringing a total of 6 Lombardi Trophies back to New England in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2015, 2017, and 2019. Brady left the Patriots to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he inevitably finished his monumental career.

The California-born athlete gave the anticipated announcement through a post that was uploaded to his Instagram account this past Tuesday, February 1, 2022. “This is difficult for me to write, but here it goes,” Brady commenced his statement with. “I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore. I have loved my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention.” Surprisingly, the former Patriot ‘forgot’ to mention the team that originally brought him into the league, with who he achieved most of his accomplishments. “I’ve done a lot of reflecting this past week… My teammates, coaches, fellow competitors, and fans deserve 100% of me, but right now, it’s best I leave the field of play to the next generation of dedicated and committed athletes,” Brady stated in a continuation of his retirement announcement.

Tom also took the clear opportunity to individually thank specific franchises and coaches who felt had a serious impact on the growth of his professional career: The Buccaneers were mentioned multiple times where the Patriots organization did not seem to make an appearance. He concluded his statement with: “My playing career has been such a thrilling ride, and far beyond my imagination, and full of ups and downs… I will remember and cherish these memories and re-visit them often. I feel like the luckiest person in the world.” As nobody really knows what the future holds for Tom Brady, it is safe to assume that he will continue to be a familiar face behind the scenes of the NFL, continuing his growing business “TB12 Sports,” and taking care of his beloved family.
