The Minnesota Timberwolves recently went toe-to-toe against the second-best team in the Western Conference, the Golden State Warriors. Held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the Chase Center in the heart of Los Angeles, California, Golden State managed to keep a firm hold on their increasing win streak. They sent the Timberwolves back home to Minnesota with an upsetting 115-124 loss, along with evening out their 2021-2022 season record to 24 wins and 24 losses; the Minnesota franchise now withholds the No. 8 spot in the Western Conference as they continue to pursue their goal of reaching the NBA playoffs.

Star center and 26-year-old superstar Karl-Anthony Towns swiftly took the initiative to put his team on his back by adding a well-earned 31 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists to his team’s score chart. Last season’s Rookie of the Year runner-up was also a familiar face throughout the night as he went on to put up a hard-fought 27 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists in a failed, yet honorable attempt to claim the win for his squad. Despite their loss, the Timberwolves managed to unveil extreme efforts on the offensive end of the floor throughout the entirety of the match, however, the Warriors simply seemed more prepared coming into this battle while consistently playing top-tier defense.

Ever since their star shooting guard Klay Thompson returned back from a serious ACL injury earlier this month, Golden State’s confidence has been transparently through the roof as they look to finally reclaim a spot in this year’s NBA Finals. Steph Curry earned himself a 29-point, 8-rebound, and 6-point performance this past Thursday night, while Thompson played his role with 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists in his squad’s 36th win of the current season. Now the Golden State Warriors must turn their attention to their next face off against the No. 5 seed on the east coast (Brooklyn Nets) this upcoming Saturday, January 29.
