The Brooklyn Nets recently hosted an intense matchup between themselves and the Toronto Raptors this past Saturday, December 14, 2021. The brutal back and forth battle took place at the Barclays Center inside the heart of Brooklyn, New York, where the hometown team managed to pull through with a close 131-129 victory at the conclusion of overtime. With this win, the Brooklyn Nets now hold an even more confident 20-8 2021-2022 NBA season record as they sent their opponents back to Toronto with a heartbreaking loss.
Star Forward Kevin Durant put on an impressive performance this past Saturday night, earning himself a much deserved triple-double at the end of his 48 minutes of action. The 11-time all star contributed a total of 34 points, 11 assists and 13 rebounds to his team’s hard fought win, bringing them one step closer to reaching the highly sought-after NBA Finals. Other athletes for the Nets also rightfully played their role such as Patty Mills and Blake Griffin, who combined for a total of 43 points, 8 assists and 9 rebounds.
However, taking a look at Toronto, the Raptors seemed to have been able to keep up with the pace of Brooklyn throughout the entirety of the game, but unfortunately lacked in the last stride of the race where the Nets transparently took over. Despite suffering from just a 3-point deficit, Toronto’s star athlete Pascal Siakam still put on a show with a hard earned 25-point, 2-assist and 6-rebound game, over the course of 44 minutes of game time. The final score was tied at 120 at the end of regulation, making it anyone’s ballgame until Durant and the Nets swiftly pulled ahead to finalize the score. With this loss, the Toronto Raptors continue the season with an uneasy 13-15 season record as they head into their next match against the Golden State Warriors next Saturday, December 18.
