25 people were rushed to the nearest hospital this past Friday, November 5, 2021, after the devastating occurrence of a crowd surge at this year’s Astroworld Festival. Out of the 25 innocent victims, 13 were required to stay overnight for further evaluation of the incident. Unfortunately, eight total attendees of this specific Travis Scott concert were reported dead, while approximately 300 separate individuals received on-site medical treatment. Travis recently made the announcement to the world that he has officially canceled the second day of the Astroworld Festival immediately after finding out the unsettling news; over 50,000 people were in attendance for the first day of the festival.
The Houston rapper uploaded a post to his Instagram account this past Saturday that addresses the current situation. “I just want to send out prayers for the ones that were lost that night,” he stated. “We are actually working right now to identify the families so we can help them out through this tough time. I am honestly just devastated, and I could never imagine anything like this just happen. I am going to do everything I can to keep you guys updated and keep you guys informed on everything that is going on. Love yall,” he remorsefully said.
After being released from the hospital, one of the victims was able to give a public statement on the exact matters that took place on Friday night. He stated, “I couldn’t even stand or breathe or anything, and I’m 6 feet tall and I was having to look up to the sky just to breathe before the show even started. As the countdown was going to zero, it didn’t make it through one full song before people just started collapsing and falling back,” the 16-year-old victim claimed. Travis is known for creating huge mosh pits and having his audience ‘rage’ throughout the entirety of his shows, but it takes just one time for things to easily get taken to the dreaded point of no return.
