This past Tuesday, October 26, 2021, the Los Angeles Lakers went toe to toe against the San Antonio Spurs inside of the AT&T Center. Both teams played their hearts out in a back and forth battle for a victory that would eventually lead to the Spurs falling short just four points in an upsetting 125-121 loss to the Lakers. Even with their star player, Lebron James, sitting on the bench due to an apparent leg injury, the team was still able to pull through with a well-earned victory. Lebron stayed courtside for the entirety of the match as he tried to make himself useful by giving tips to his fellow teammates, while also giving as much assistance as he could to the coaching staff.

Russell Westbrook was the player to look out for during this game as he put the team on his back in order to secure this much-needed victory. Westbrook concluded the final seconds of overtime with a total of 33 points, 8 assists, 10 rebounds, and 3 steals over the course of 40 minutes of action. The former Rocket also took the bold opportunity to single-handedly attempt to lock in the victory by driving to the basket and finishing a highly contested layup in the final seconds of overtime. Even with this outstanding performance, Russell cannot be given all of the credit as Anthony Davis also played a crucial role in this specific match.

Anthony Davis managed to finish the game with an impressive 35 points, 4 assists, 4 blocks, and 17 rebounds, even after being taken out of the game for a brief period of time in the second quarter; it was determined to just be an inconsequential knee injury. With this win, Los Angeles has now propelled themselves into having a 2-2 season record, while simultaneously handing San Antonio their third official loss of the 2021-2022 season. The Lakers are now set to match up against Russell Westbrook’s former team of the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday, October 27, in what is sure to be a game you cannot miss.
