LiAngelo Ball is one-third of the well-known high school basketball trio popularly known as the Ball brothers. The 22-year-old athlete is the middle child of the family and just so happens to be the only one of Lavar Ball’s children to not have played an official regular-season NBA game. Lavar is the father to LiAngelo, LaMelo, and Lonzo Ball while also being the founder and current owner of his successful business Big Baller Brand. His oldest son, Lonzo, was previously selected by the Los Angeles Lakers as the second overall pick in the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft. Three years later his youngest son, LaMelo, was chosen by the Hornets as the third pick in the second round of the 2020 draft, leaving Gelo to play catch up.

Looking to finally follow in his sibling’s footsteps, the California athlete has recently broken the news that he has signed a “non-guaranteed” contract with the Charlotte Hornets. The young basketball player has been dipping his feet in the water throughout the summer league as he has now averaged a total of 9.6 points per game. He put up an impressive 2 assists, 2 steals, 2 rebounds, 5 three-pointers, and 16 points over the span of just 16 minutes in his preseason debut against the Portland Trailblazers. NBA reporter Shams Charania sent out a public tweet releasing the information that read, “The Charlotte Hornets have signed LiAngelo Ball to a non-guaranteed contract and Ball will play for the team’s G-League Greensboro Swarm. Ball was slated to enter the G-League Draft but signing allows Charlotte to acquire his rights.”

This will be the second Ball brother on the current Hornets roster as LaMelo Ball has already created quite the name for himself in the Charlotte area with his unique style of play. There have been no specific terms of LiAngelo’s contract agreement that has been made public yet, but we can assume that it will not take long when considering that the coaches would want to make everything official as quickly as possible. The Hornets are now set to face off against the Indiana Pacers this upcoming Wednesday, October 20, 2021, after coming off of an embarrassing 68-point loss to the Dallas Mavericks.
