Coming off his most recent album “Igor” which would produce multiple platinum songs such as “EARFQUAKE” and “See You Again” (feat. Kali Uchis), Tyler, The Creator looks to one-up himself in 2021. He officially released his sixth studio album on June 25, 2021, and chose a well-fitting title as “Call Me If You Get Lost.” The project embodies various features from top-selling artists all partaking in different genres of music.
In 2019, Tyler’s album “Igor” would be nominated and eventually win a Grammy award for Best Rap Album of the year. Unlike his previous project which was created and recorded entirely by Tyler himself, he chose to take a different approach when finally dropping “Call Me If You Get Lost.” He managed to assemble an impressive group of artists for this album with appearing verses from 42 Dugg, NBA Youngboy, Lil Wayne, Brent Faiyaz, Lil Uzi Vert, Pharrell Williams, and many more. Seeming to be his most enjoyed song on the project, “LUMBERJACK,” would skyrocket in stress as it would reach over 17 million on Spotify within just 2 days after being made public. The track was also propelled into various Spotify streaming playlists along with tiger popular songs such as “WUSYANAME,” “LEMONHEAD,” and “JUGGERNAUT” (feat. Lil Uzi Vert, Pharrell Williams).
The project is currently on pace to sell 175k within just the first week of its official release. As his audience has seen over the course of his career, Tyler, The Creator does not move at the speed of other day-to-day rappers. He has been in the music scene since 2011 but has only been taken seriously on his last two bodies of work, both skyrocketing in popularity. As Tyler plans to sit back and embrace the love from his fans, we can only hope that he continues to drop his music and make his audience happy.
