When “Space Jam 2: A New Legacy” was first released into theaters it had everyone curious if it would live up to the hype and match the vibe of the original movie. Even with doing incredible numbers such as $31 million in box office sales in the first week, it seems to be slowly on track to sadly becoming just a ‘one-weekend wonder.’ There is no doubt that the success of the film could always be determined by a coin toss, but the latest technicalities on the movie would be that it dropped an unexpected 69% in recorded sales after the first week’s showings concluded.

Tallying a total of $9.5 million after the conclusion of the second-weekend showings, “Space Jam 2: A New Legacy” has obtained over $50 million within the United States only; not to mention their overseas income that earned the movie $12.6 million and summed up to approximately $94 million throughout the entire world. It took over $150 million to create this historical Warner Brothers sequel and by the looks of how the financial aspect of this film is playing out, it is unclear whether or not they will surpass their initial budget. Not only is this movie slowly falling in expectations and popularity, but “Black Widow” is not far behind, swiftly plummeting to the bottom of the charts.

Similar to “Space Jam 2,” when “Black Widow” was first made public in theaters it skyrocketed to the top of all movie charts as curiosity within loyal Marvel fans compelled them to take a gander at the film because of Marvel’s high criteria. The post-Avengers Endgame movie consisted of a dead Avenger as the star which, off the bat, their targeted audience was not fond of. Within the second weekend of “Black Widow” being released, the film dropped a disappointing 67% in box office sales as fans seem to be turning to “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp.”

Despite all the recent negativity surrounding “Black Widow” it still managed to reach its goal of accumulating and surpassing $150 million. Third-week sales are what propelled the Marvel movie to achieve this goal as over $11 million dollars was collected over a span of 17 days in theaters. This is reportedly the “fastest sprint to $150 million while dealing with a country-wide pandemic,” and it will be interesting to see which direction sales go in next for both “Black Widow” and “Space Jam 2: A New Legacy.”
