Platinum artist, Saweetie, recently announced her collaboration with Mcdonald’s in hopes that this move will have the same career and financial effect that it had on both Travis Scott and the South Korean boy band, BTS. Set to be available for purchase at select locations in the U.S. starting on August 9, 2021, the “Saweetie Meal” consists of a 4-piece chicken McNugget, a Big Mac, medium fries, a medium sprite, and a special renamed sauce called, “Saweetie ‘N Sour.” The fast-food giant is motivating fans to try out her stipulation that she added to her meal in which you can ‘remix’ the items by asking for fries on top of the nuggets or sandwich; Saweetie’s preferred choice.
This past Wednesday, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski released a public statement that foreshadowed that an upcoming celebrity meal was well in the works. “The Famous Orders platform was based on a simple idea: what unites all our customers, including famous celebrities, is everyone has their go-to McDonald’s order…The Travis Scott, then J Balvin Famous Orders broke records in the U.S. This quarter, the BTS meal took that ambition globally, connecting our marketing, core menu, and digital strategies in 50 markets.” With the CEO of this monster corporation telling his audience how well the Famous Orders idea has been lifting his company, it was only a matter of time before they announced who was next on the list.
Saweetie has been making plenty of noise ever since her recent breakup with multi-platinum artist Quavo and this McDonald’s play, while does not seem big, is a huge step for the young rapper toward forcing people to take her and her business seriously. Using the momentum from her previously released singles, “Fast (Motion),” the 28-year-old artist has been conducting all of the correct marketing techniques in order to ensure that her meal skyrockets in numbers when it is inevitably open for consumption. Saweetie has made it transparently clear that she will stop at nothing until she feels comfortable in this life and by making a genius play such as this seems to be on the fast track to the top.
