Having proof of the COVID-19 vaccination is slowly becoming a regular treatment throughout North America as states such as California and New York are now requiring locals to show physical proof of the vaccine before entering almost any indoor public gathering area. This specific solution to try and end this worldwide crisis had finally made its way over to Canada as all citizens should expect to see the same obligations in the states brought upon them. Just before schools officially start to reopen and as the country finally agrees to allow some vaccinated travelers across the border, high officials recommend that there could not be a better time to institute covid mandates in order to ensure that this disease does not go any further.
University of Ottawa’s associate professor and global health epidemiologist Raywat Deonandan made a good point when exclaiming, “Do you want to do it while we are calm in the water? Or do you want to do it when the storm is raging around us.” Taking an unwanted first step, Quebec recently announced to their locals that ‘vaccination passports for non-essential services’ will be mandatory as of September 1, 2021, in order to avoid anything resembling another quarantine. There has been a serious effort towards bringing these requirements to Canada since the previous spike in coronavirus cases, which has brought the county to unfortunately enter their 4th wave of COVID-19, hopefully, their last.
“We’re going to have vastly different strategies,” a member of Ontario’s COVID-19 task force stated. This seems to be just the first out of many more protocols to head over towards Canada embodying the same goal as everyone else in the world to finally bring this deadly disease to a highly anticipated halt. “It makes sense if you get to a certain community incidence, where the odds of someone walking into that place with COVID-19 are starting to get higher and higher by the day, it could start a chain effect,” he stated. As multiple precautionary measures are being instituted throughout Canada citizens can only hope that this recent gesture is the one to finally put an end to this madness.
