Everyone remembers the brutal earthquake that spread throughout the country of Haiti last month. On August 14, 2021, Haiti was unfortunately hit with a 7.2 magnitude earthquake that completely destroyed over 137,500 buildings and affected the lives of at least 15,000 people. Nearly a month after the tragic occurrence took place, the independent republic is still in the early stages of clean-up and repair as they plead for help from anyone who has the ability. The American Red Cross has been a huge factor in bringing Haiti back to the beautiful land it once was, however only so much can be done with the help of just one major organization under their belt.

Noticing their struggle to find trusting helping hands, Jackboy recently stepped in to give his assistance towards the devastating situation. While being born in Haiti himself the artist is able to take this natural attack personally after taking into consideration and remembering what it was genuinely like to be a local. In response, Jackboy announced through his social media accounts that he will be initiating a GoFundMe in hopes of raising enough money to truly support the physical damages made to the country, along with the damages made to its residents; he plans of building a local hospital near the affected area in order to ensure his people are getting the health care that they deserve.

The page reads, “Funds will be spent on orthopedic supplies, tarps for shelter, and the foundation of the hospital.” There have been over a hundred donors who have graciously contributed to saving the people of Haiti. So far, the biggest donation was given by Grabba Leaf, a Florida-based tobacco company, who pitched in a total of $20,000 to support the rapper’s homeland. The GoFundMe page currently sits at approximately $26,023 as Jackboy and his supporters steadily make their way towards their $300,000 goal.
