3 Years Since The Passing Of Mac Miller

On September 7, 2018, the music industry woke up to devastating news as popularly known rapper Mac Miller was the victim of a tragic overdose case. The young artist was known for his back and forth drug problems and even with all of his peers and family attempting to lend him a helping hand it still was not enough to save the talented performer from his unfortunate parting. After an autopsy was inevitably done to figure out the specific cause of death, medical officials found high doses of cocaine, alcohol, and fentanyl in his system.

Most likely the main reason for his demise, fentanyl was never known to be the drug of choice for most people. This particular drug is one that is normally laced in your everyday street narcotics such as marijuana, cocaine, and popularly known as Mac’s ‘drug of choice’ Xanax. Three separate people were arrested in relation to selling the rapper “fake blues” (the painkiller known as Percocet). One of the dealers confidently stated, “People have been dying from fake blues left and right, you better believe law enforcement is using informants and undercovers to buy them on the street so they can start putting people in prison for life for selling fake pills.” Little to no remorse was shown by any of the suppliers.

During his time, Mac gave his audience a plethora of different approaches to the rap game, in which his listeners turned his musical creations into timeless pieces of art. A total of nine separate projects were released directly from the now-deceased artist including “K.I.D.S,” “Watching Movies with the Sound Off,” and the most popular fan-favorite being “Swimming.” This album recently launched itself to become his first platinum-selling record earlier this year, which is upsetting to think about considering this was the last body of work the 26-year-old artist made public to his listeners; he dropped the project just two weeks before his passing. It has now been three years without Mac Miller, however, it is safe to say that he brought a whole new sound and energy to the music industry, and for that, and everything he has accomplished since then, will never be forgotten.
